Food Science and Technology is a specialized application of biological sciences, and borrows heavily from biology, chemistry and biochemistry. It gives a crucial link between food, nutrition and health. Food professionals develop technological innovative applications in biotechnology for development and processing of foods. The department trains  technicians, technologists and technical managers in the food industry.
