Department of Food Science and Technology (DFST)
Food Science is a study of biological, chemical, biochemical, physical and engineering sciences in food processes. Food Technology is the application of these sciences in the processing and preservation of foods. It gives a crucial link between food, nutrition, and health. As the world population increases, the food industry has become very competitive, and is constantly changing to meet consumer demands.

  • Bachelor of Technology in Food Science and Technology

    Requirements
    KCSE Mean Grade C (Plus) with C (Plain) in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics/Physics/Geography, English/Kiswahili
    Duration: 4 Years (Integrated Program)
    OR
    KCSE Mean Grade C- (Minus) and a Diploma in Technology in Food Technology or Equivalent

Masters and PhD programs
  • PhD in Food Science and Technology

    Requirements
    Masters degree in related field
    Duration: 3 Years (Part-time)
