Conservation biology is a discipline that involves the study of nature and status of earth’s biodiversity. It aims at protecting species, their habitat and ecosystems from extinction and erosion of biotic interaction and propagation and rehabilitation of the same. Ecology studies relationships between living things and their physical environment. The Department focuses on training and research in management of ecological systems, conservation of biodiversity, genetic resources, wildlife management, climate change and environmental health management; fields which are particularly important to Kenya as a country. Graduates from this Department will be equipped with skills in conservation, preservation, rehabilitation, mapping, management and monitoring natural resources and their sustainable use.
