Mushroom cultivation has become increasingly popular in Kenya due to its high economic value and nutritional benefits. Oyster mushrooms are among the most consumed mushrooms in Kenya. However, the cost of production and lack of technical expertise have limited the production of oyster mushrooms by small-scale farmers and urban populations.

Small-scale farmers and urban populations in Kenya face challenges in producing oyster mushrooms due to the high cost of production and lack of technical knowledge. This has led to low production levels and limited access to the nutritional and economic benefits of oyster mushrooms. Therefore, there was a need to develop an oyster mushroom kit that was cheap and easy to maintain. The development of the oyster mushroom kit resulted in a cost-effective and easy-to-maintain kit. The kit includes a substrate, spawn, and a tray for growing oyster mushrooms. The manual provides step-by-step Instructions for using the kit.
