The Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology held a students’ seminar on 31st May 2022 in the TU-K Lecture Theatre on ‘Trends in Bioinformatics’. The seminar was organized by Bioinformatics Hub of Kenya Initiative (BHKI) with the aim of increasing awareness in the field of bioinformatics, among the undergraduate students.
The main speaker was Dr. Trushar Shah, from the Integrated Breeding Platform (IBP) of the International Livestock and Research Institute (ILRI). The students were later divided into groups where they got to interact with professionals in the bioinformatics field. During the seminar, the students got to learn about the career and project opportunities available in bioinformatics. They also got encouraged by the career journeys of the various facilitators who graced the event.
