The main goal of the Food Science Career Talk was to motivate, inspire and equip our students with information on how to make better-informed decisions about their future career paths. The talks were graced by three Guest Speakers; Ms. Charity Wairimu (ABSA), Mr. Dan Macharia (Promaco East Africa), and Mr. Patrick Odabasi (One Care Farm). The career talk allowed Food Science and Technology students to hear from industry professionals who demonstrated the relevance and connection of what is taught in the classroom and its application in the real world. It also allowed students to gain an understanding of what different careers entail while bringing the curriculum to life. A total of 70 students (Diploma and Degree) as well as Food Science and Technology staff members attended. Also in attendance was Dr. Edward Okonjo (Department of Applied and Technical Biology) representing Prof. Dorcas Yole, the Director School of Biological and Life Sciences. Students termed the talk as a great eye-opener with great significance to graduates of Food Science and Technology. They were motivated and challenged at the same time to appreciate the importance of every course/unit in their curriculum.
